Salvagnini and NiEW, a business design and customer experience company specializing in the industrial sector, have received a RedDot Award in the Brands & Communication Design 2019 category for the FACE project, dedicated to the design and development of the new human-machine interface with the same name.

The jury of this prestigious global competition, now in its 65th edition, recognized the high levels of design, innovation and creativity of this Italian-made product, after carefully evaluating over 8,000 international projects submitted in the different categories.

From September 2019, every new Salvagnini system is controlled and managed with FACE, the new interface created from the partnership with NiEW. In today’s industrial scenario, the human-machine interface plays a significant role in the commercial success of any system, as it is one of the main points of contact between the manufacturer and the user of every technology, and as such is able to consolidate the perceived value of the product.  And the increasingly evolved digital approach of operators has contributed to changing their expectations: in today’s industrial world, the user experience of automatic production systems must respond to criteria of usability and accessibility, equal to those offered by even the simplest consumer products.

“We started the FACE project in early 2017, aiming to provide customers with a human-machine interface that was simple to use and available on all our products,” explained Pierandrea Bello, Salvagnini Product Manager.“FACE comes with a number of new functions, developed on the basis of a systematic analysis of our customers’ habits, conducted in partnership with NiEW. And now that the project has been completed, it is really gratifying to be able to say that this new face we have put on is one of the most characterizing aspects of our users’ experience of Salvagnini systems, and has been really successful. This RedDot Award underlines the importance of this project, and above all the value of the results achieved.”

“We are proud and happy to have accompanied Salvagnini in this challenging but satisfying project, leading to this award which is a significant recognition of the quality of our work,” stated Andrea Violante, CEO of NiEW srl.“This result was also achieved thanks to our customers’ ability to rethink not only their products in a new, digital key, but also their organizational models and cooperative innovation processes.”

Professor Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award stated: “For around 65 years, the Red Dot Award, as one of the world’s largest design competitions, has been providing a platform for designers, agencies and companies to evaluate good design. I want to congratulate all the winners on their achievements. Anyone who succeeds among such a strong and international bunch of competitors deserves to be proud of themselves.”

The Red Dot Awards 2019 ceremony was held on November 1st during a gala event at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, before an audience of around 1400 international guests. The prize-winning projects will be described in the International Yearbook Brands & Communication Design 2019/2020, on sale worldwide from 14 November.
